Since there are not a lot of customer reviews out there for this projector, I wanted to give my two cents, after using this projector for 30 days. BTW, I am totally new to projector world, having owned only TVs in the past, and I bought this unit for myself, with my own money, to be my living room TV (I was not paid to do this review 😊). I moved into a new place with a big cream colored wall, so I thought I’d try out the X5. I haven’t been disappointed, and am running a 150 inch picture on my blank wall with no projector screen and have no plans to change my setup (though I may try out an ultra short throw projector later on, more on that in a minute).The unboxing was very clean and professional, with some wow factor bringing it out of the box. The power brick is a little chunky, but that seems to be the way it is with these. I put it on a small side table, plugged it in, and pressed on, and the sheer brightness and size of the image was very impressive.I’d suggest patience with the setup process – it took me almost a dozen tries to get my wi-fi recognized by the machine, and my password accepted. Not sure what happened there, but have had no problems with it since. I’m using the device with a Roku 4k stick, the usual streaming services, and YouTube TV.I watch a lot of professional tennis, and it is completely amazing to watch with the X5. Wimbledon at 150 inches in your living room, it is like being in the stands at center court. There is no jitter around the tennis ball, which is a complaint I have heard around some projectors. Watching sports has been fantastic, and I haven’t found any particular content that the projector can’t handle.As a newbie to projectors I was most worried about brightness, and how much I could really use it in daylight. My projector is setup in a room with 4 large windows, and I get direct sunlight, so this is not a home theater setting, and not ideal for projectors. But I’d describe it this way: if its night and you have no ambient light coming in, or limited ambient light, its amazing, and any type of content looks great, even dark content like Harry Potter or John Wick. If its cloudy outside during the day or you are not getting direct sunlight, and you are watching bright content (ie not Harry Potter) it can still be amazing. I watched most of Wimbledon on it during the day, with blinds closed, but still some ambient light coming in, and the content was bright enough that it looked fantastic. If you have windows open with direct sunlight coming in, and I am watching bright content, it’ll be do-able, but it will be pretty washed out. But overall I am very impressed with the brightness of the projector, and its watchable any time of day, its just not at its absolute best unless its in twilight or darkness. That said, I have had visitors be blown away by the image even in the day. I feel absolutely no need to buy a screen – I cant imagine the image could be much better than what I get on a cream colored flat wall.So what isn’t so great?1. Auto-omnidirectional keystone correction – this unit is not particularly special at this. Based on online reviews of other projectors, it seems like some are getting really incredible with instant auto-correction, allowing the user to position the projector at an angle, sometimes a pretty severe angle, and still get a perfect image in front of them. I was hoping the X5 might deliver this as well, but it doesn’t. Sometimes it doesn’t recognize an adjacent wall and “shrink” the image to compensate. Sometimes it thinks the angle is too much for it to do an adjustment. And often there is light bleed that is at an angle, and looks like an off-kilter border of the image (like a frame on a picture, but the top frame is too thick and is more thick on the left than the right, so there’s this asymmetrical framing of your otherwise symmetrical image). Sometimes you have to manually keystone, but that doesn’t solve the light bleed problem. Ultimately I’ve found this projector to be ideal when sitting it directly in front of your screen area, and leaving it there. I can get it down to an inch or two inches of symmetrical “light bleed” border, and it looks great.2. Light bleed. There is always some amount of light bleed around the border of the image. Maybe this is something that other projectors like this have as well? I’ve never heard it discussed in reviews of similar projectors though. You really have to get the projector pointed straight at your screen, to minimize the size of the light bleed border. It would be absolutely amazing if Formovie could figure out a way to get rid of this. It doesn’t affect my viewing practice much, but I keep my projector stationary so I don’t have to figure out how to solve it again, which is counter to the purpose for these, which are meant to be easy to move around and the software should quickly adapt. If paying more money for a higher end projector solves this, it’d prob be worth it.3. Heat production. In the Formovie ad pics I’ve seen, a satisfied viewer is sitting comfortably in a chair, with the X5 to their right on a side table. That is definitely the best way to sit! Because if you have the X5 to the left of you, you will experience basically a low grade heater pushing warm air on you. Its too hot for me to tolerate, and unfortunately having the X5 to my left is my preferred setup. So I have the X5 pushed to the back of the room, and I sit a little forward of it, to avoid the heat. The heat production is a real downside. If you have to sit to the right of the projector due to your setup, I’d actually skip this projector; it wont be comfortable.Due to those caveats, my main concern going forward is if I‘ll be able to position the projector in a way that makes it usable for me long-term. I probably have to put it behind a couch to avoid the heat. And it’ll be a stationary projector rather than the butterfly mover it is intended to be. So for that reason I am thinking about moving to an ultra short throw projector, which can sit right in front of the wall, and the positional issues are a lot easier to deal with…But even with those caveats I’m very much enjoying the X5 – it’s a very similar feeling to watching a movie at a movie theater. Its no IMAX, but probably as close as one can get at home.

These are something I know basically nothing about, so I spent months doing research. I narrowed it down to this projector, and I couldn't be happier for the price. I use it in my basement on a white wall, with ambient light, and it works fantastically. Also used it outside on a 185 inch screen from Elite Screens and it's amazing as well, even with ambient lighting. In both cases, projector is about 10 feet away from wall/screen.

This company I believe just has to settle a lawsuit brought on by epson for misleading in advertising. For the price of this you can purchase a nice refurbished epson or comparable more known brand of projector .

I really enjoy this projector the 4K picture is clear and crisp excellent for movie watching or gaming. This projector uses Denon speakers which sounds great. My con is that you have to always auto focus the picture after you turn it on which is no problem the process only takes seconds. My current set up is at 110 inches but the picture can go 1000 inches, I have used it on a 13 feet high by 14 feet high with no loss to the picture quality. This projector will not disappoint!

I bought and tested a bunch of the competing projectors with most of them costing more, and the foremovie v5 won on a side by side comparison. The picture quality is superb, brightness is awesome and the sound was excellent. I bought extra speakers, and returned them after appreciating the portability and the sound quality. This projector is easily setup to turn on and go directly to your Amazon fire stick and allow you to watch Apple TV, Netflix, Prime, Hulu…etc. I took a long time to decide on projectors and very happy. Watch YouTube reviews, including those by “the Hook up” who reviews multiple projectors and does an excellent analysis (rating the formovie v5 as a personal favorite!!!!

It works well overall, Chinese OS autofocusing excellent, but the auto position no quite good it always leaves the image crooked.

I initially gave this a one-star review due to... ahem... operator error. Suffice it to say, this is an excellent machine with ridiculously good picture quality (and sound!). The rating should really be 4.5 stars, as the only faults with it are known before purchasing and are essentially results of what this is— a small, highly portable, show anywhere, Chinese projector. And as such, you don't get zoom or lens shift. The projector does a masterful job of getting the image where it needs to be (and somehow manages to keep it crisp as it does so), but it does result in light spilling out around your screen, which is distracting. But, if you're set-up up allows for the exact throw distance or you are projecting onto a large wall, this could potentially be a 5-star projector. The other "known" item is the built in Chinese streaming service (inaccessible in US) and Chinese menu system that is too easy to accidentally access. Would love for the US version to just be an English menu system of the core features, with no vestiges of the Chinese service or menu system. Not a deal breaker, just nice to have. Give it a shot; even if it doesn't work in your set-up, I think you'll be impressed.

I’m pretty impressed with this projector for the price. It has exceeded my expectations visually. There are a couple of things I need to figure out like transferring my own screensaver or photos in its internal drive but I’ll contact formovie for that. Only thing to note is that the home page is all in Chinese.
